Exploring the future of consumption- five different scenarios unveiled

The first scenario revolves around the prominence of technology. In this scenario, the study paints a landscape where rationality prevails over instinct, notably bolstered by a heightened emphasis on artificial intelligence. This augmentation is involved in intricately planning and manufacturing goods, ideally tailored to suit the unique needs and desires of each individual. Does this visionary outlook, which highlights the significance of data collected by brands, truly lead to an improvement in the way we consume while disregarding the superfluous aspects? The second scenario envisions a world where nature asserts its rightful dominanceคำพูดจาก สล็อตเว็บตรง. An astounding 82% of French respondents acknowledged a newfound awareness of resource limitations following recent shortages. “What if nature became an integral part of corporate economic models, rather than being just a resource? This scenario invites us to contemplate a future where reverence for nature influences consumption choices, compelling companies to transform into responsible players in the preservation of natural resources.”

The third hypothesis is that product consumption necessitates earned merit. While today, 36% of respondents confess to consuming by habit, it might be the case in the future that producing and purchasing become “shared acts of merit, uniting brands and consumers in a collective effort.” A staggering 48% of tomorrow’s consumers (predominantly Generation Z) envision scenarios where they must either contribute through donations or commit to CSR endeavors to acquire a product. Additionally, 60% anticipate a decrease in traditional supermarkets, making way for a new form of cooperative commerce. The fourth scenario is based on choice restriction, where only a few distributors would have the right to exist. “76% of future consumers surveyed envision that by 2035, brands will only offer a limited number of products to mitigate wastage,” highlights the study. This shift towards prioritizing essential needs has the potential to generate greater value by providing fewer options, surpassing the notion that possessing or buying more items than necessary offers a sense of reassurance. Lastly, the fifth scenario envisages a rekindling of pleasure, occurring amidst a backdrop where 46% of respondents express a real sense of guilt associated with consumption. “Could happiness be redefined and sought through extraordinary experiences that evoke an intense sense of vitality?” the study ponders. Consequently, purchasing may become less frequent but, in turn, elevate into an indulgence rooted in opulence, satisfaction, and unparalleled quality.*Survey conducted online with 1000 respondents from the French population by Kantar Media in June 2023.
